Mia Neri Foundation Onlus
MIA NERI FOUNDATION ONLUS ASSOCIATION is a non-profit organization established following the death of Mia Neri on 8 August 2014 due to an incurable brain tumor.
Mia was an 11-year-old girl, whose heroic behavior during her illness inspired her family and friends to name an association after her whose main mission is to raise funds (donations, 5×1000, bequests) to support research in the field of pediatric oncology with particular attention to young researchers who intend to dedicate themselves to this difficult task.
The funds raised come both from liberal donations from members, supporters, and organizations that have known and appreciated the Association’s activities, and from the sale of gadgets and the organization of musical, theatrical and sporting events. These funds are allocated according to the indications of a scientific committee made up of experts of proven competence.
Our commitment
A related mission is to spread awareness about the serious problem of children’s tumors, which in too many cases lack effective treatments, and to increase the culture of solidarity and sharing, especially in children themselves and adolescents. The privileged location for this mission is the F. S. Nitti School Institute, the middle school attended by Mia, where the “Mia Neri” literary prize takes place annually among the students of the Institute.
Events
The events organized by the Association have as their undisputed protagonists children and young people who, with their “doing” and a lot of enthusiasm, carry out the activities proposed to raise funds to support the Association’s projects.
And just as if by magic, through writing, dancing, singing, acting or the creation of small works of art, the new generations become actors in an active citizenship project which is the lifeblood of the Association’s events.
The association’s projects are ambitious and the kids are determined to give their precious contribution to realizing them. Ample space therefore for their talents, their passions and their fantastic industriousness which keeps everyone’s hearts young.
